Holy Posole Road Show out West
I have just returned to the heart of Texas, Austin, to be exact…. after being on the road for a week out west with Holy Posole. I went to Lubbock ,Texas first because it is my hometown where my family and some extraordinary friends live.
There is a wonderful store in Lubbock now that sells Holy Posole ,Gourmet Pantry on 82nd street. This is your store in Lubbock and surrounding area to buy Holy Posole.
The next day we stopped briefly in Clovis, New Mexico, where Buddy Holly recorded some of the greatest music ever at the Norman Petty studios.
This is 100 miles away from Lubbock ,Texas and is on the road to Santa Fe, New Mexico and northern Arizona and the high desert of California.
We stopped in Santa Fe later that evening to pay homage to the city where this wonderful soup originated from over 30 years ago . The original recipe of Holy Posole was from a hundred year old woman who had cooked this soup all her life.
As I cooked this soup over the years I have evolved it into a more natural ingredient soup with no msg or other harmful substances. The red chile comes from Chimayo New Mexico , just 30 miles from Santa Fe.We travelled on to Arizona the next day.
The Grand Canyon was a beautiful site on Easter Sunday as we watched the sun set.
My Hopi friend loved my Holy Posole and is giving some to his friend that has a restaurant in Tuba, Arizona. the next day we drove into Beautiful Joshua tree, California.
Joshua Tree has a wonderful collection of people and places to visit. The high desert is more than magical and impossible to describe in words. The Mohave Sands Motel has the exclusive to Holy posole in that town for now. Call Blake at the motel and you can get your soup there. Also it is an extraordinary place to stay while in Joshua Tree.
On the way back home to Texas we saw a rainbow right before we got to Las Cruces , New Mexico. My favorite restaurant is La Posta in Las Cruces. They now sell Holy Posole there and it is exclusive in Las Cruces!

Soon we hope to hear from the store in Santa Fe to announce the place to get your Holy Posole there. A,lso Los Angeles, California will soon be carrying our Holy Posole. Stand by for the announcement as to where you may get Holy Posole in these 2 very wonderful places out west.More news to come very shortly on everything about holy Posole and Sharon Ely’s All Natural Products.

Holy Posole Tours the Western United states
Today Holy Posole is going to the Grand Canyon, the big hole in the ground! I will send pictures later. The Holy Posole is blessed by the beauty of this extraordinary natural wonder. I think this is a magnificent place to be on Easter Sunday . The natural beauty of this world and and all that we receive from the earth is a blessed thing. The soup that we make and sell in 90 HEB stores in Texas exclusively is a soup that is something that will bless you as you eat it for nutrition and good health and happiness and comfort. We are taking Holy Posole on a special journey out west to be connected to other stores in the western United States.
In Lubbock Texas, the home of Buddy Holly among other great musicians and artists, we have found the perfect store to place Holy Posole , since HEB does not live in Lubbock. The Gourmet Pantry now sells Holy Posole for your benefit if you live anywhere near Lubbock Texas. Here is location information for their store.
In Santa Fe, New Mexico , we have contacted a few wonderful stores and they have expressed interest in selling Holy Posole as well. We will soon learn of their decisions and when I find out the details I will post immediately to this site.
Today, as I said , we are giving our Holy Posole to a Hopi Indian Elder to enjoy for the spring and summer season. Thomas has enjoyed eating our holy Posole for many many years and is happy to receive Holy Posole as a gift.
Tomorrow we will be in beautiful Joshua Tree California and will celebrate being there by staying at the beautiful Mohave Sands Hotel and serving Holy Posole and Jalepeno Cornbread . Thanks to Blake and his beautiful hotel and Happy birthday. We will certainly find an outlet to sell Holy Posole in Joshua Tree and also LA as well. When we find out the details we will post also this information.
The other place we are headed with Holy Posole later in the following week is Riodosa New Mexico and Marfa, Texas. Our trip could not be complete without going to Fredricksburg, Texas. These places have wonderful stores to sell Holy Posole and I am certain that we will be sending details on where to find Holy Posole in these citys. It will be like looking for Easter Eggs in the western United States except instead you will be looking for Holy Posole instead. More to come and Happy Easter !

Did I mention it was SPRING in TEXAS ???!!
I am so lucky to be going to the Keerville HEB grocery store today at 2:00 for an in store sampling of our Holy Posole. Because I live in Austin , I am sure that the drive to Keerville will be overwhelming with beauty of the most fantastic bluebonnet display along side the hiways. this is something I am looking forward to.
Also I am very excited about visiting this wonderful store in Kerrville to be with the cooking connections Chefs. They have been so kind to come up with some extraordinary recipes to serve along side of the Holy Posole straight out of the jars. Not only have I discovered from other chefs in the Texas area some incredible recipes presented with my Holy Posole, but just heating it up and serving it in sample cups and spoons by these wonderful people, has given my soup a boost for all to enjoy it’s distinctive and wonderful flavor.
I was in Austin this past week end and enjoyed the SXSW events and one of the events was Bruce Springsteen showing up for the Chronical Awards show and singing with my husband Joe Ely. Afterwards I gave him a jar of Holy Posole and he was very happy to recieve it. I explained that he was always and for many many years , supporting the homeless and the food banks around the world, and I wanted to give him some food now, which we also try to donate periodically to the food banks and Fishes and Loaves group here in Austin and the homeless shelters in Texas. I have a dream to be able to serve soup to those who may need comfort, no matter who or where they are. He understood this I beleive. It was merely a jester , because I am sure Bruce has multitudes of gifts and also plenty of food to eat, never the less I wanted him to know that Joe and I are on the same stream of thinking when it comes to feeding the hungry.
Holy Posole can heal a hungry heart or an empty stomach and I love having my product in a great store like HEB who donates more food to the food bank than any other Texas grocery store. I feel lucky and very grateful and look forward to seeing you today in Keerville HEB if you can make it,March 23, 2012.

It’s Spring with Holy Posole and Company Time!
This week the bluebonnets should absolutely explode everywhere with a profusion of color all along the hill country roads here in Texas. After our wonderful rains that we have been having this early spring and late winter we should have an abundance of flowers and flowing waters for everyone to enjoy.
As I drive around Texas to go visit various HEB grocery stores to say hello to the cooking connections chefs and the people that come in to the store that day , I get to see all of this wonderment. Wow what a beautiful state we live in and how lucky am I to get to enjoy such beauty as I get to go see where my holy Posole is sold in one of the biggest grocery store chains in Texas, HEB. There are 79 stores that the new heat and eat posole is in now and a list is to follow so one will be able to locate your store closest to you to get your soup.On another note there is a great radio show by Cecilla Nasti here in Austin and she did an interview with me in my kitchen not long ago. We made my Jalapeno Cornbread, a wonderful side dish for Holy Posole, and as I made it we talked about Holy posole and my life making it and serving it to friends and family and eventually selling it in HEB grocery stores in Texas today. Here is a note she sent to me…

New HEB Store Locations added for HOLY POSOLE!
While I was up in Dallas awhile back and was on Dallas Good Morning TV show, people were asking me “where can we get Holy Posole up here?” I found out just recently that there are 2 stores very near Dallas that carries Holy Posole and in fact I intend to go to these stores soon to visit the Cooking Connections, where the Holy Posole is sold. Maybe i could let you know when the dates are that I will be up there and you can come by to say hello. Usually, when the Cooking Connection people know I am coming they will prepare some dish with my posole. Then we all get to taste it. Never the less, you will see a list below of 75 HEB stores( after I find out what they are, I know one store is in Burleson.).so when I get this list today from the HEB company I will post right here in this spot just for you.
My dream is for the new HEB ‘s and Central Markets in the Dallas area to carry Holy Posole as an added feature to their true Texas fare. The “watch word” as my friend calls it, is “We’ll See”.
I would love to tell you, most of all about the exciting new products we are working on and hopefully will release in the very near future, this year! One of my favorites and other people’s as well is the Holy Posole , Verde. This soup is such a great posole for the summer time, with it’s citracy tomatillios and original green chiles with only the green chimayo chile added; no red chimayo chile which is used in the original Holy Posole.
Also, we have a very unique and different Texas Vegetable Posole , with added onions, garlic, spices and green chiles with chunky tomatoes to make a delicious tasty soup I call Spolee-o-lee Posole, my answer to every one’s tortilla soup with a twist, and (no soggy tortillas added ) making our soup unique and completely impossible to stop eating. Someone said that SPOLEE-OLEE-is a silly name to call a soup and I think before the year is over everyone that knows Holy Posole will be saying “that Spolee-o-lee Posole is Great. Please give me some more!”
Lastly, and one of the most important products that i know is already a “Cotton Picken’ Smash Hit” as the Legendary Stardust Cowboy calls it , is Sharon Ely’s All Natural Jalepeno Very Special Cornbread. This year you will be able to get this cornbread to compliment all of the wonderful Holy Posole’s we have to offer. Trust me , everyone wants that cornbread and I will be making alot of it this year just for you.!
I just remembered the SOMBRERO HABANERO SAUCE we will be selling as well. There is the regular and the HOT . Both of these temperatures of Sombrero Habenero sauce are unique, nothing like it anywhere, and has been proven by many to not be able to stop eating. One person asked me if we could make him a 10 gallon drum just for himself to eat. At my daughters wedding , even though there was BBQ and everything else around most people hovered around the giant Sombrero Habanero Sauce and chip bowl. There fore we decided to offer this sauce to the masses.
none of these new products are ready for the store to distribute, but hold on and they will arrive very soon I feel confident.
Please check out all the HEB’s and get an exclusive jar of Holy Posole to eat during this cold spell we are having and be warm and try to be somewhat happy. See you soon at one of the great Texas HEB stores that have Cooking Connections that sell Sharon Ely’s All Natural Holy Posole.

Holy Posole Dreams
If I never dreamed up what I wanted to do with Holy Posole then I suppose nothing would ever happen with it. And I guess my first dream about Holy Posole was to be able to make it in a large pot for our party we were having about 30 years ago. I had just learned how to make this special soup and wanted to share it with our friends. We were having a birthday Gypsy party for me….and we were supposed to have it outside but it poured down rain so we moved the entire party inside our house.. We all had a great time at the party and I still think it was because of the magical soup, Holy Posole that we cooked for all of our friends. Then I dreamed after many years of making holy Posole for so many occasions and events, that I would love to sell it at the farmers market in Austin, Texas. I cannot tell you how daunting this experince was for me. Not only did I love having a booth and selling my soup to local people , it also made me realize that there were so many people to reach out into the world with my Holy Posole and I had to continue doing this. My dream was to reach many people far and wide and to help them in one way or another with Holy Posole. I do remember one time as we were closing our booth at the farmers market, a guy came by to beg for the very last kernal of holy posole hominy at the bottom of the cooking pot. It was all I had left and I gave it to him …He was grateful. I knew I had to continue to make more Holy Posole.!

Fast forward a year….And now by some grace of dreaming, and a lot of hard work by a lot of people, I now have this soup in the 49 of the biggest HEB grocery stores in Texas. You will see a picture below of me signing my jars of Holy Posole at one of my in store visatations. I have dreamed of helping people all along with this soup. We have donated Holy Posole soup to many places in the past few years including Austin Food Bank, Dallas Food Bank, fishes and Loaves, the orphanage in Jaurez, Mexico, and the firefighters of Bastrop during the devastating fire last summer. I dream of helping people by serving my soup …..simple as it may sound, I truly think it is important in all of our healing process of this world.

Whether I sell Holy Posole in HEB , one of the finest grocery stores in Texas, or donate it to various institutions, or give it away to people who need it, or sell it online, I am living a dream of Peace Through Posole and Harmony through Hominy ! May all of our dreams be realized.

It is cold and rainy in Austin, Texas and unusual to say the least since in the past , spring is usually on it’s way for us….It actually snowed yesterday and it was just the perfect time for our Holy Posole to be served as we all sat around the fire place and watched the 54th Grammies on TV. All of the HEB Cooking Connections are having a little contest to see which store that carries my Holy Posole can sell the most . There is a great deal they are giving away to all of the customers: buy one Cookwell Tortilla Soup and you get my Holy Posole free.! It is truly a great deal and a perfect time for these soups to be consumed. The tortilla soup is made by Cookwell, and after tasting it , i have to say it was very delicous indeed. So you get 2 great soups for the price of one and along with this you get a free package of tortillas.
I can only say I feel extremely lucky to be in the company of such great products and a fantastic store as well.
Here is a recipe you can try when you buy my Holy Posole:

Here’s What People are Saying About Holy Posole
i am going to list some quotes from people that have commented on Holy Posole.
I work for HEB, and we just got your “Holy Posole” in yesterday. WOW! Great soup, flavor is awesome. I only had time to serve for a couple of hours but the response was awesome and unanimous! Everybody was very impressed with your soup. I even took a jar home with me!
Thanks for a great product and bringing it to HEB!
Thomas
Please stop by any HEB on this list and pick up a couple jars of Holy Posole soup!I guarantee you will love it. Sharon Ely has been making this for 30 years and it is down to perfection in a bottle. You can add chicken or pork if you like or its really great without any meat.I have invested in the company so I hope you will try it! Please!!!It will be in the stores Oct. 16th!Thank you to all my friends!Sincerely, VanSharon,Kay is wondering if the thickening agent has any gluten in it?
She and her mom are both celiac disease victims and can’t digest wheat (gluten) properly.
Kay just mentioned that if you don’t have any gluten in your recipe, then you could
put Gluten Free on the label. That is actually a positive these days in marketing
to grocery stores. Especially something as sinful and yummy as holy posole.
davis(it is gluten free)Hi Sharon,Robin Rather commented on Holy Posole’s status.Robin wrote: “bought 4 jars of the orginal at Fresh Plus on west lynn recently for my folks(Gene and Dan). Can’t wait to try the new flavas!”Hope you received my phone message acknowledging the wonderful Holy Posole gift. Some friends came over for the Academy Awards, and I let them try some. They loved it!!!!!!! PyhrrhaMaybe if this starts to get off the ground–or to help it get off the

It is my intention to carry on with Holy Posole and make it and other products for a very long time. It is just too much fun and satisfaction for me. Happy New Year with Holy Posole
Posole has consistantly over many many years been a ceremonial dish to celebrate New years ,Christmas and weddings. After reading more and more about this special soup, and studying how Posole has evolved over hundreds of years, maybe even thousands of years , since ancient Mayans ate corn as a ceremonial dish to thank the Gods for their fortune, I realize that it is important for all of us to continue to celebrate and be grateful for corn and this soup. Corn is the staple ingredient in Posole and makes Posole what it is today, a very healing fortunate soup. Everyone that makes Posole has their own special added technique to make the soup their very own. This is what I have done over the 30 + years I have been making it. I took a recipe that was handed down from a 100 year old Santa Fe resident and made it with natural ingredients and even deleting some ingredients and adding exclusive ingredients that I felt would be very healing for myself and others. The green chiles are from Hatch, New Mexico, and the natural Chicken Broth we use has zero MSG, (which I personally do not like and try to avoid as much as possible.) We also use a wonderful red chile from Chimayo that makes our soup have a delicate sweeter chile powder taste and personally I believe the Chile to be healing. I am not a Dr. so I cannot say this is proven or is scientifically true, but in my heart, after going to Chimayo many many times and experincing the wonderfullness of the land and the people , I know that this chile is good for me and is different from most other red chiles.
That all being said, you can see I am excited about the New Year and feel that eating a bowl of Holy Posole will bring me good luck this year. I may even add some Black eyed peas, cooked by Joe, my husband, for extra Good Luck! There is more Holy Posole being made these following weeks to come and more will be delivered to the Texas based HEB stores very soon. Lets all eat some Holy Posole for Peace and Harmony this year and have a really great year of happiness ,Good Luck and good health. I will be going to the stores that carry our soup and will be seeing many of you there. I can tweet and send facebook announcements as to when and where I will be in each store and to present samples of our Holy Posole for 2012.

A Large Pot of Holy Posole for the Holidays!
Holy Posole is a wonderful soup for the holidays and today is Winter Soltice (or is it the 22? )an ancient celebration of the ending and a new beginning of the year.It is the shortest day(and longest night) of the year so I better get cracking because today I am making a very large pot of homemade Holy Posole so we can enjoy the soup for the next few days of celebration all the way up to Christmas morning. I will probably cook another large pot of Holy Posole for the new year celebration on December. 31st.The traditional Posole I am familiar with comes from New Mexico, and this is where I was so lucky to taste my first Posole. I have to say it changed my life forever, so much so I have a blog about my soup and I sell it in large grocery stores now now. I love this soup from New Mexico, even though we make Holy Posole here in Texas now. The New Mexicans created this royal soup 100′s of years ago to serve at all ceremonies and holidays and especially at Christmas time or weddings.
the combination of chiles and hominy and broth makes this a very healing comforting soup for everyone.
I feel very lucky to know the magic of this special soup because for me it is a perfect way to give love to my fellow man. I know this is true for a lot of soup that is made and has been discussed many times over the years as to how soup heals the “soul”, especially that “chicken soup”! I believe it is the perfect time to begin the new season with a healing soup that makes people feel loved and Holy Posole seems to do the just that.
We use Chimayo red chile powder from the very sacred village of Chimayo New Mexico, and the delicious green Chiles from southern New Mexico. All of our ingredients are natural and there is no MSG or gluten to cause reactions in people that have reactions to these ingredients. Therefore with the natural ingredients and an ancient recipe from some very loving people and a taste that is especially unique to most Posole, you will personally be very happy you have a bowl of Holy Posole to celebrate with this new year.
In the New Year we have some extremely special products to deliver to you , such as a new unique salsa, two more soups, tortilia and verde Holy Posole , plus the in demand Holy Posole jalepeno cornbread.
all of these products will be our New Years resolution to deliver to you this year! In the meantime, there is Holy Posole for the people right now. “Harmony through Hominy and Peace through Posole! ”
Happy winter soltice and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and Happy Hanukkah to Everyone and may Holy Posole thrill your soul as you eat a bowl today. Here is where you may find some jars in Austin,Texas: Fresh Plus on West Lynn,
JD’s on 1826,
Bubba’s country store ,
and Some HEB’s , even though they seem to be sold out today at most of the stores inAustin….but a few people have found their last jars.
You can order online at wwwholyposole.net and it will be sent 2 day priority mail. In this New Year I expect the Holy Posole to be distributed much better than we have seen in the last month, which I look forward to completely. Much Love to you all,Holy Posole!

Holy Posole! More truckloads of Posole headed to HEB
It does not surprise me that the first truckload of Holy Posole delivered to 49 HEB’s in Texas sold out the first week. Needless to say there is none left for Thanksgiving shoppers. Never the less, there is more Posole being delivered next week and it will definitely be ready for the holidays. This is a very wonderful thing to be thankful for , for sure.
I have not been blogging lately for several reasons. One main reason is that I have been in complete overwhelm from the world around me. Not only has my daughter had a huge wedding at our house last week, but before the wedding and right after we lost 2 of our most wonderful longtime friends to longterm illnesses. Literally, there has been no time to sit down and write a blog for this wonderful website which I love to come to and talk to you about Holy Posole and all of the happenings taking place around our exciting product.Thank you for your patience and for reading this now.
We have exciting news coming your way. I am re-issuing my Holy Posole back on Amazon.com for people to order for the holidays. this should be in affect by next week, just in time for the holidays and shopping online. Also we have new products being developed , Verde Holy Posole and a wonderful new salsa for the summer. There are meetings being set up for us to present our soup to other grocery store chains in the north and midwest . Our Holy Posole should be in more stores across the nation by next year as we have everything in place to produce large amounts of our delicious soup . This really excites me most of all , as my intention for the entire project of making soup for the people is spreading harmony and peace through soup, our soup especially.
This month we have served soup and cornbread at my daughters wedding for good luck. We donated large amounts of Holy Posole to the food bank in Dallas for the holidays. We gave a large amount of soup to the Fishes and Loaves group who feed the homeless here in Austin. The more I can distribute this Soup to all people for all kinds of functions , the more fun I have. This is why I am so excited for Holy Posole to be delivered to HEB next week and for them to have it in their stores for the holidays. Hopefully I will see you in one of the stores over the holidays as I plan to travel to many stores and visit them as they sell my soup. I will look for you there and will try and post every week which stores I will be in and when. Thanks so much in your interest in Holy Posole.

Holy Posole!
I went to the HEB in Leander yesterday and met the people that were selling and buying Holy Posole.
What a delightful surprise to see the huge store that the cooking connextion is located in. There I found Dawn Grissom, the Leander cooking connextion manager who had invited me to her department to make an in store appearance. This was such a great experience for me to meet some of the greatest people. I have never seen such enthusiasm and excitement about my product as well as the other products they were selling. This makes me very happy to be affiliated with such a great store. honestly I feel lucky to be invited to sell my delicious soup in a grocery store chain in Texas that practices such incredible sale tactics. Dawn and Scott are just amazing as spokesmen for the product they are given to sell. And this past 2 weeks it has been among other things, Holy Posole! In fact they sold a lot of my soup and actually were nearly sold out while I was there. I am sure they will be receiving a new shipment this next week for this cold weather we are finally having after such a long and treacherous summer with above 100 degree temperatures for over 90 days.
Now is the perfect time for Holy Posole to be released. People can enjoy the spicy warm tasting soup for this cool season. Yesterday, Dawn and Scott had added delicious pulled pork to the soup and served it with cornbread casserole. there seemed to be a line waiting for the samples and people were getting their recipe to take home as well as a jar of my Holy Posole. I am quite sure these people will be coming back for another jar next week . Hopefully they will not be sold out. if they are though there are other grocery stores that have it. you can see from the other locations I listed before in my previous blog where to find it.
In the next blog I have some wonderful tips for adding a creative touch to your Holy Posole. Several people have submitted their suggestions for a new slant on Holy Posole, and I am requesting people to submit more suggestions if you like. You can send them to holyposole@gmail.com. I will also print the recipes I have from the Leander store. Very delicious Holy Posole for the holidays is on my mind.Thank you HEB for making it a delight to sell my Holy Posole and spread Harmony through Hominy!

Sharon Ely and Holy Posole
This Story about Holy Posole and Sharon Ely was written by my dear friend John T Davis. The story of Sharon Ely’s new culinary endeavor, Holy Posole, is a tale that wanders from the high mountains of New Mexico to the flat plains of West Texas to the vibrant live music capital of the Lone Star State.
It’s a tale of love, music, good times and fellowship, all of it somehow conspiring to fit in a simple jar. A dish whose origins pre-date modern settlement in the New World has magically become comfort food for the 21st century.
Sharon Ely has led what many might consider to be a charmed life. Born in Lubbock, in West Texas (the home of Buddy Holly, the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the “Lubbock Lights” UFO phenomenon), Sharon has plunged into one artistic endeavor after another. She has been a model and stylist, and assisted on hair, makeup and wardrobe for such films and shows as There Will Be Blood, True Grit (2010), and the Friday Night Lights television series.
Her marriage to Texas country-rock musical icon Joe Ely has enabled her to work with the Flatlanders (Ely’s collaborative project with his two friends, Butch Hancock and Jimmie Dale Gilmore), Willie Nelson, Bruce Hornsby and many others. She’s been a friend and collaborator with artists, playwrights, filmmakers, poets and a host of other creative individuals.
But first, foremost and always, she has cooked.
And, over the years, her signature dish has emerged: Posole! A venerable Spanish/Mexican/Native American dish featuring hominy, hearty broth, meat (if desired) and spices, it is Southwestern comfort food of the highest order.
Arriving late one night in Santa Fe, New Mexico after a long day on the road from their home in Austin, Texas, Sharon and Joe found their hostess greeting them with a steaming pot of posole waiting on the stove. It was, said their hostess, a century-old recipe. At the least.
“That soup made us feel SO much better!” exclaimed Sharon.
Sharon’s own version of the dish has been a 30-year work in progress, she says. “When other people first taste it, it gives them the feeling that they’re home,” she says. “I remember I had to walk home from school for lunch on cold days, and my mother had a pot of unbelievable soup on the stove. And I remember thinking how lucky I was.”
Later, as an adult, Sharon helped legendary barbecue chef C.B. “Stubbs” Stubblefield launch his line of now-ubiquitous barbecue sauces. The first batch of Stubbs Barbecue Sauce was cooked up in Sharon’s own kitchen under the eyes of Stubbs himself. “Stubbs was an inspiration,” Sharon recalls. “I saw how his food made people feel better and brought them together. I decided I could do that for myself.”
The final component of Sharon’s posole odyssey fell into place when she discovered the native heirloom red and green chiles that grow around the tiny, high-country town of Chimayo in northeastern New Mexico. Central to the town is a centuries-old Spanish Colonial santuario, which boasts a pit of miracle- working “healing dirt.” It is said that the devout can rub earth from the pit on afflicted limbs and be cured on the spot.
“I believe the chiles from Chimayo have healing properties, too,” says Sharon, who promptly began incorporating the peppers into her recipe.
Thus was born Holy Posole!
Holy Posole had its beginnings in the farmer’s markets around Austin, with Sharon and friends selling the all-natural soup directly to customers in 2008. Since then, she has acquired a bottler and has begun to distribute her product to boutique locations and eateries around the city (as well as donating quantities to the homeless in Austin and firemen battling the recent Bastrop wildfires). She has sent samples of Holy Posole to David Letterman, to Garrison Keillor and selected food critics around the country. Call it a Holy Posole Crusade.
“I decided that if I could help myself, I could help other people at the same time, ” says Sharon with clear-eyed simplicity. “So I made a decision that I was just going to make posole.
“I just know it makes me feel better when I need some nourishment and some love, and I’ve seen it make other people feel better, too. There’s just something about this soup.”
Call it the Power of Posole.
